Dinosaur Birthday Party Planning

If you are stuck for ideas on hosting the perfect Dinosaur theme party for your childs party at home then look no further, we've done it for you...

Birthday Party Planning

Your birthday party planning is crucial if you want to host a successful party, but as usual Lello and Monkey have done a lot of the hard work for you! Find the makings of a great dinosaur birthday party below...

Don't forget the party bags (either prepare them beforehand or do our treasure hunt game and let the kids fill the party bags with the 'treasure' they find!)

10.30 Biscuit Decorating - pre-bake some ginger bread pirate biscuits and provide icing pens and silver balls to decorate them with. We like these biscuit cutters and icing pens.

This activity will give you 10 minutes grace to greet your guests and will allow time for any late comers.  If anyone arrives too late to do this activity explain kindly, but  firmly, that the activity is finished now, but they can have a go at the end before they go home (by which time they may have forgotten or they may want to stay behind to do the activity).

Present Opening! – Clear a table for presents, so that you can open them after the guests have left and make a list of who bought what for the thank you cards! - Print some FREE dinosaur thank you notes!

10.45     Dinosaur Treasure Hunt – treasure hunts are a great ice breaker.  I have never known a child refuse to take part.  If well organised, this will take around 20 minutes plus 10 minutes free play time if the weather is nice. This is what we do best so go buy our Dinosaur Treasure Hunt game now!

11.15     Pass the Prehistoric Parcel – Everyone knows how to play pass the parcel! Just make sure to wrap up a layer for every child and use dinosaur wrapping paper!

11.25    Dinosaur Stepping Stones – Like musical chairs, but the kids have to dance around a ring of stepping stones and find a vacant stepping stone when the music stops. Don't worry we have designed one for you already - Dinosaur Stepping Stones game.

11.35   Extinct Dinosaurs – Just like sleeping logs, but the kids have to pretend to be asleep and the first one to move is out until one is remaining. You may have to produce a tickling stick for any highly competitive guests.

11.45     Craft Activity – Why not try our dinosaur craft kits. This should give you some time to get your pre-prepared lunch out of the fridge and onto serving plates.

12.00     Lunch Time

12.20     Birthday Cake – Singing Happy Birthday, blow out candles...easy!

12.25     Story Time - We like ‘Dinosaurs Galore’ by Giles Andrae

Extra Dinosaur Birthday Party Games

  1. Pin the Tail on the T-Rex – Again we've done all the hard work for you so go get our Pin the Tail on the T-Rex game!
  2. The Dinosaur Stomp – Just like musical statues, but the kids have to stomp to the music like dinosaurs and freeze when the music stops.
  3. What’s in the box? – Pass round a shoe box, with the lid taped down. Cut a hole in one end, just large enough for a child’s hand to fit in. Fill it with something challenging to identify (a squishy or squeaky toy dinosaur would work well). The child who guesses right in the shortest time is the winner.
  4. Colour in Dinosaur Mask – Download and print out the FREE Dinosaur Mask. Provide pencil crayons, felt pens and glitter glue pens and choose a winner at the end of the party.
  5. Best Dressed Dinosaur competition - Ask your guests to come in fancy dress and judge the winner at the end of the party. If you're out of ideas why not buy a Dinosaur costume.
